David L. Thompson, 50, of Atkinson, formerly of Cambridge, passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 22nd, at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Cremation will take place after the funeral and a graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 24th, at Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. Memorials may be made to the David Thompson Memorial Fund.
David Lavern Thompson was born June 30, 1970 in Geneseo, the son of Larry L. and Susalee Hamilton Thompson. He was educated in Cambridge schools, and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1988. He married Sandra Belcourt in Unionville, Missouri. They later divorced.
He was trained as a deep sea diver in New Jersey, and moved to New Orleans after hurricane Katrina to help with recovery effort there. David then returned to the Cambridge area. He enjoyed music, fishing, gardening, and cooking.
Those surviving are his mother, Susalee Thompson, Cambridge, three sons, Blake Hamerlinck, Coal Valley, Alexander Thompson, Fosston, MN, and Dylan Thompson, Portland, Oregon, two sisters, Teresa Thompson, Panama City Beach, FL, and Tonya (Michael) Clenney, Glenwood Springs, CO, and a brother, Michael (Jamie) Thompson, Milwaukee, WI, His father and his grandparents preceded him in death.
