C.J. Musick, 72, of Geneseo died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, February 28, 2020, at Allure of Geneseo, while under the care of Heartland hospice. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3rd at the Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, 225 E. Park St., in Geneseo. Keith Morrison, of Heartland Hospice, will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services and interment will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to C.J. Musick Memorial Fund.
Carol J. Musick was born on April 29, 1947, in Detroit Lakes, MN. She was adopted by Claude and Ethel (Burckhardt) Musick. She graduated from Palmer High School in Colorado Springs, CO in 1963. When she was young she played donkey baseball in Cripple Creek, CO. While in high school she had worked as a waitress and later had been a homemaker. She lastly was a volunteer tutor for Blackhawk Outreach Center.
CJ had lived in Colorado Springs, CO, Sheboygan, WI, Cambridge, Kewanee, Moline, and Geneseo. She a proud to have traveled to all 50 states, Mexico, and Canada and 1/3 of all the libraries in the state of Illinois. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, embroidery work, puzzles, sewing, vegetable gardening and especially reading. She loved all animals especially dogs and cats. She was famous for her Pumpkin Crunch and many sugar-free, delicious desserts. She had a huge collection of bookmarks, books and also loved collecting stuffed animals. She was a member of the Quad Cities Diabetes Association until its closure. As a type 1 diabetic, she especially enjoyed educating people on diabetes.
Survivors include special friends and adopted family Robert Shore and Kathy Shore, both of Geneseo; and a brother, David Musick, of Colorado. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Freddy, and an infant daughter, Angeletta.
