William R. “Bill” Robison, 77, of Sheffield died Friday, December 27, 2013 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 3 rd at First United Church of Christ, Sheffield. Rev. Jane Courtright will officiate. Burial will be in Sheffield Cemetery with military honors by Sheffield American Legion. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Sheffield. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to William R. Robison Memorial Fund.
Bill was born May 27, 1936 in Peoria, IL the son of Ralph and Florence (Dixon) Robison. He graduated from Tiskilwa High School and Western Illinois University, Macomb. Bill served in the U.S. Army serving in Germany during the Korean War time. He married Ellen Dinsmore on August 23, 1959 in Good Hope, IL. She died on April 28, 2008. He later married Barbara Welch on February 14, 2010 in Princeton, IL. She survives.
Bill had taught school for Western Community School District, he then worked for Caterpillar in data processing until retiring. He had also farmed all his life in the Buda and Tiskilwa area.
Memberships include First United Church of Christ, Sheffield, Sheffield Lions Club where he was serving as President and H.F. Hortz Post 415 American Legion, Sheffield where he was a past commander. Bill had served on the board and as president of the former Western Community School District.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; son, Robert (Renea) Robison, Tiskilwa; daughter, Rebecca Robison, Springfield, IL; step son, Wesley (Elizabeth) Welch, Lafayette, IN; step daughter, Wendy Welch, Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Justin (Ami) Robison, Jared Robison, and Jacob Robison; step grandchildren, Nik and Eli Welch; AFS daughter, Joanne (Dennis Hika) Thompson, of New Zealand; brother, Ralph (Synda) Robison, Jr., Varna, IL and sister, Barbara Helton, Lockport, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife.
