Virginia M. Patty, 85, of Galva, died Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Courtyard Estates of Galva, where she had been residing. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 3rd, at the Galva Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services. Rev. Randall Swanson will officiate. Burial will be in the Galva Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Messiah Lutheran Church or the Galva Park District.
Virginia Maurine Krans was born November 15, 1932 in Galva, the daughter of Harold and Nellie Bolin Krans. She was educated in Galva area schools. Her marriage to Russell D. Patty, Jr. took place on Janurary 15, 1949 in Kewanee. He passed away on January 5, 1996. She was a lifelong resident of the Galva area, and assisted her husband in farming west of Galva for 40 years in addition to spending 25years as a bookkeeper with E. W. Houghton Lumber Co. in Galva before retiring in 1987.
She was a life time member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Galva. Virginia enjoyed following her grandchildren's activities and was an avid reader. With her scanner, she always knew what was going on around town. Virginia was always working on large jigsaw puzzles throughout her live. She enjoyed knitting, and the couple traveled the country for many years in their camper.
Those surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Stuart and Deanna Patty, Washington, IL, Keith “Lou” and Paula Patty, Galva, grandchildren, Craig (Ann) Patty, Ryan (Kristen) Patty, Heather (Brett) Sellers, Jake (Ann) Patty, Melissa (Nick) Foster, Brynn Patty, and seven great grandchildren. Her parents, her husband, and two brothers, William and Eldon Krans preceded her in death.
