Virginia Hogren

September 10, 1925 — July 11, 2014

Virginia I. Hogren, 88, of Geneseo died on Friday, July 11, 2014 at Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan, Prophetstown.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16th at First United Methodist Church, Geneseo.  Rev. Chris Ritter will officiate.  Burial will be in Western Township Cemetery, Orion.  Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, 225 E. Park St. Geneseo.  Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Geneseo or to Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan, Prophetstown.

Virginia Osborn was born September 10, 1925 in Port Byron, IL the daughter of Benjamin B. and Irene H. (Guldenpfenning) Osborn.  She graduated from Rock Island High School in 1943.  On June 6, 1946 she married Kenneth A. Hogren in Coal Valley.  He died on November 22, 1999.

Virginia was a homemaker and farmed with her husband in the Coal Valley area.  She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Geneseo and the Henry County Farm Bureau.  She enjoyed knitting, bird watching, gardening and doing jigsaw puzzles.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and John Magee, Peoria, AZ, Linda and David George, Cleveland, OH, and Barbara and Lawrence Coussens, Prophetstown, IL; a son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Kenneth E. and Sue Hogren, Germantown Hills, IL; thirteen grandchildren; and  nine great grandchildren.  Her parents, husband, brothers John and Ben Osborn and sisters, May Hofer and Clara McConnell preceded her in death.
