Twyla A. Matheny, 87, of Cambridge, died Friday, April 24, 2015, at Hillcrest Home, rural Geneseo. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 29th, at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services. Rev. David Joyce will officiate. Burial will be at Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Twyla Matheny Memorial Fund.
Twyla Aylene Matheny was born July 24, 1927 in Munson Township, Henry County, Illinois, the daughter of Harley and Augusta Jodts Vincent. She was educated in the Munson Township rural school system. Her marriage to Richard S. Matheny took place on February 18, 1951 in Cambridge. He passed away on December 18, 1986. Twyla worked at the G & G Cleaners in Cambridge during her early married life. She enjoyed painting ceramics and also taught this painting technique at M & L Ceramics in Cambridge. She was a member of the Cambridge United Methodist Church and a 50 year member of the Mystic Chapter No. 160 of the Order of the Eastern Star, Cambridge. Twyla liked search word books and loved her family.
Those surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Doreen and Rick Allen, Geneseo, Debra and Keith Bloomer, Davenport, two sons, Don “Big Ed” Matheny, Prophetstown, and David Matheny, Cambridge, grandchildren, Juston (Melody) Vermost, Cambridge, Derek (Lori) Hayworth, Woodhull, Darren (Stephany) Vermost, Milan, Stephen (Brittany) Matheny, Geneseo, Jennifer (Jeremy) Lynch, Troy, IL, Joy Matheny, Lacon IL, Kendra (Jeff) Frazier, Woodhull, and Jamie Bethell, Woodhull. There are 11 great grandchildren, Dakota and Blaze Matheny, Victoria and Michael Hayworth, Tyler Bethell, Elleigh Martin, Cierra and Drake Frazier, Dillan and Kaelynn Vermost, Zane Matheny, and a great grandson due in May.
Other survivors include three sisters, Margaret Echelberger, and Karen (Burp) Lain, both of Cambridge, Mary Jane (Dean) Ingram, Pekin, IL, and four brothers, Allen Joe (Anna) Vincent and Raymond Vincent, both of Cambridge, Ronald (Catherine) Vincent, Kewanee, and Darrell Vincent (Susan Hackelton), Alpha. Her parents, her husband, an infant sister, Delores Marie, two brothers, Donald “Doc” and Robert Vincent, and a daughter-in-law, Sue Matheny, preceded her in death.
