Thomas L. Echelberger, 66, of rural Cambridge, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 20, 2023, due to an illness he passed away peacefully at his home. Cremation has been accorded and a graveside committal service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 26th, at Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to help with medical expenses. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, Cambridge, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Thomas Lee Echelberger was born October 10, 1956 in Kewanee, the son of Paul and Margaret Vincent Echelberger. He attended Cambridge schools and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1975. He met the love of his life, Judy Watson, and they were married on August 29, 1986, in Bishop Hill. Tom loved to hunt, fish, and ride motorcycles. He also loved to spend time doing things with his family.
He worked for Kewanee Boiler and later was employed at the Illinois Department of Transportation out of their Geneseo facility. He then worked for the Phenix Township highway department for several years.
Those surviving are his wife, Judy, sons, Chase and Tate, both of Kewanee, Jared, Sheffield, Jake, Colona, five grandchildren, Lexi, Will, Jubilee, Sierra, and Kayla, and one great grandchild, Aria. Other survivors include two brothers, Steve (Tina) Echelberger, Davenport, and Kevin Echelberger, Cambridge, a brother-in-law, Mitch Leander, Cambridge, and many nieces and nephews. His parents, a sister, Lynette Leander, a grandson, Chanse Echelberger, and a sister-in-law, Angie Carey, preceded him in death.
