Stanley L. Palmer, 88, of Cambridge, died Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at Hammond-Henry Hospital Long Term Care, Geneseo. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 14th, at the Cambridge United Methodist Church. Rev. David Joyce will officiate. Burial will be at Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Memorials may be made to the Cambridge United Methodist Church or the Cambridge American Legion Post 417. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Service, Cambridge, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Stanley Lee Palmer was born March 25, 1927 in Munson Township, Henry County, Illinois, the son of Elmer E. and Dora E. Scovil Palmer. He was educated in Cambridge and Galva area schools and graduated from Galva High School in 1945. His marriage to Millie J. Brennan took place on October 26, 1946 in Cambridge.
He was a lifelong farmer in Munson Township and also sold seed corn and farm supplies. Stanley was a member of the Cambridge United Methodist Church. In his early years, he enjoyed woodworking. He loved gardening and always had a very productive garden.
Those surviving are his wife, Millie, three sons and daughters-in-law, C. Wayne and Dianne Palmer, Rodger and Pat Palmer, and Craig and Jan Palmer, all of Cambridge, nine grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. His parents and two brothers, Wayne and Marvin, preceded him in death.
