Stanley E. Nelson, 83, of Harlingen, TX, and more recently from San Antonio, TX, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2022, peacefully at home. Cremation has been accorded and there will be no services at this time. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at a later date.
Stanley Earl Nelson was born May 17, 1938, the son of Walter O. and Hazel G. Schumaker Nelson. He was educated in Cambridge schools. He graduated from Cambridge High School in 1956. His marriage to Sylvia Rosen took place on October 4, 1980, in Reseda, CA.
Stan was employed at Burbank, CA Fire Department where he retired as Fire Marshall in 1993. After his retirement he enjoyed traveling, golf and the occasional card game. He spent much of his spare time in the fields when it was time to plant and again during harvest. He loved his time spent at home on the farms helping his family.
Those surviving are his wife, Sylvia, sons and daughter-in-law, Brent (Leigh) Nelson, Bettendorf, IA; Brad Nelson, Los Angeles, CA; Thom Nelson, Homer, AK; Bob (Beverly) Rosen, San Antonio, TX; a daughter and son-in-law, Pam (Larry) Bunch, Waxhaw, NC; and many loving grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Other survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, John (Sarah) Nelson, Oro Valley, AZ. His parents, and two brothers, Glenn Nelson and Richard Nelson preceded him in death.
