Shirley Jean Wancket, 82, of Annawan, died Saturday, November 2, 2013, at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Annawan. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, rural Annawan. Father Mark Miller will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, 401 W. Front St., Annawan, where a rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Annawan-Alba Fire or Rescue.
Shirley Jean Fronk was born May 28, 1931 in Annawan, IL, the daughter of Eugene and Daisy (Eggimann) Fronk. Shirley graduated from Annawan High School in 1949. She married Albert "Sam" Wancket on Jan. 28, 1950 in Annawan. He died on Aug. 11, 2002. Shirley had been a long-time waitress at many area restaurants. She retired from the restaurant at Atkinson Sale Barn in the late 1990''s.
Memberships include Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Annawan and the Altar and Rosary Society. She loved to shop and go on day trips.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Dyann Wancket, Annawan, and Troy and Julie Wancket, McHenry, IL; five grandchildren, Courtney (John) Rico, Kyle (Colleen) Wancket, Bradley, Tyler and T.J. Wancket; six great grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Sherbeyn, Atkinson, and Barbara (Robert) Lee, Milan; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Lloyd Fronk, Gary Fronk, and Larry Fronk, and a sister Geraldine Boswell.
