Shirley Johnson

Shirley Johnson, 97, formerly of Annawan, a resident of Allure of Prophetstown died there on Saturday, March 4, 2023.  Cremation rites will be accorded and interment will be at 11;00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 12th in Annawan Cemetery, Annawan.  Memorials may be made to the Music Department of Annawan Community United Methodist Church.  Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, Annawan is assisting the family with arrangements.

Shirley was born September 6, 1925 in Geneseo, the daughter of Edward A. and Esther A. (Anderson) Johnson.  She graduated Annawan High School in 1943 and attended the University of Illinois, Champaign where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority.  She had been a singer on Peoria and Chicago radio stations and had done modeling in Peoria.

Shirley was a member of Annawan Community United Methodist Church and the Annawan-Alba Women’s Club where she had served as music leader.

Survivors include a nephew.
