Sharon Davis

July 8, 1944 — February 28, 2016

Sharon Lee Thorpe Wollerman Davis, 71, of Sheffield died on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family.  Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9th at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, 339 E. Chestnut St. Sheffield, IL.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Sheffield Rescue Unit, 341 W. Railroad St. Sheffield, IL 61361 or Tri County Humane Society, 540 Elm Place, Princeton, IL 61356.

Sharon Thorpe was born July 8, 1944 in Joliet IL the daughter of Robert and Ardis (Markgraf) Thorpe.  She graduated from Joliet Township High School, Joliet, IL.  She married Irvin F. Wollerman on Sept. 8, 1962.  The couple had lived and farmed south of Wyanet, IL.  She later married Richard A. Davis, Sr. on Jan. 2, 1983 in Sarasota, FL.  He died on Dec. 27, 2008.  While living in Sarasota Sharon had attended Sarasota Vocational Institute and earned a certificate as a teacher’s aide.  She had then worked as a teacher’s aide in Sarasota helping with Special Needs Children.  She later worked as an office manager in Real Estate and Appraisal for 20 years.

Sharon has been a life-time member of the White Shrine since 1963.  She had also been a member of Bureau County Farm Bureau Woman’s Committee as well as past president.  Sharon had served as Republican Committee Woman in Wyanet Township.  She also had written the newspaper column “Sharing With Sharon” for the Bureau County Farm Bureau paper.

Sharon was an accomplished author having written a hardbound book of Poetry titled Dark Side of the Moon, as well as writing many other poems, and short stories. She had won two Editors Choice awards for her poetry and a Golden Poet Award.  Besides her writing she also had won an award in photography and art work as well as in cooking, baking and canning.

Survivors include her two beloved sons, Mark K. Wollerman (Kim); and Karl R. Wollerman, both of Sheffield, IL; five grandchildren Mark K.N. Wollerman (Nicole), Shane Helle, Hope Wollerman, “Little” Karl Wollerman, and Max Wollerman; two great grandchildren, Makayla Wollerman, and Abe Helle; her brother, James R. Thorpe; a sister-in-law, Sue Thorpe; a niece Tammy Murphy (Mike) and a nephew, Steven Thorpe (Bridgett).
