Ruth Ann Butler, 88, of Colorado Springs, CO formerly of Geneseo, IL died in Colorado Springs on Nov. 28, 2015. Funeral services were held on Tuesday Dec. 1st at the Swan Law Chapel, Colorado Springs. Chaplin Melissa Stronglove officiated. Graveside services were held on Friday, Dec. 4th at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo, IL. Rev. Chris Ritter officiated. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Geneseo assisted the family with local arrangements.
Ruth Ann Kirkpatrick was born Aug. 19, 1927 in Alden, Iowa, the daughter of George and Marie (Topp) Kirkpatrick. She graduated from Alden High School and the University of Iowa. On July 30, 1955 she married James S. Butler in Iowa City, Iowa. He died on Sept. 1, 1992. Ruth Ann worked as a part time x-ray technician at Hammond Henry Hospital. She also had worked as an x-ray technician in Ottumwa before marrying and moving to Geneseo.
Ruth Ann was a member of First United Methodist Church, Geneseo, and volunteered at the church and Hammond Henry Hospital. Her hobbies included sewing knitting, and gardening, she loved dogs, and bird watching. She enjoyed spending time with her daughters, son-in-law, and her grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Ann Marie Butler, Colorado Springs, CO, and Martha and Carl Smith, Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Nathan Spanton and Madeleine Spanton, both of Colorado Springs. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Robert Kirkpatrick.
