Ruth A. Wexell, 80, of Cambridge, died Monday, June 1, 2015, at Select Specialty Hospital, Davenport. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 5th, at the Cambridge Lutheran Church. Rev. Randall Swanson will officiate. Burial will be at Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services. Memorials may be made to the Cambridge Lutheran Church.
Ruth Ann Martin was born April 24, 1935 in Cambridge, the daughter of Joseph Ernest and Wenda C. Setterberg Martin. She was educated in the Cambridge school system. Her marriage to Orville F. Wexell took place on April 28, 1951 in Galesburg. Ruth was a homemaker and farm wife. She reported the Cambridge News on the Kewanee Radio Station WKEI for about 20 years. Ruth enjoyed quilting, ceramics, and bowling. She was a champion baker and won many awards at the Henry County Fair. Her memberships included the Cambridge Lutheran Church, its WELCA group, the Morning Marthas, and the church choir.
Those surviving are her husband, Orville, a daughter, LuAnn Steffen, Abingdon, two sons and a daughter-in-law, Thomas Wexell, Scott and Shelly Wexell, all of Cambridge, grandchildren, Kristofor Wexell, Nicole (Shelby) Lawrence, Ryan (Christine) Wexell, and Blake (Laura) Bogguess. Other survivors include eight great grandchildren, and a brother, Roger A. Martin, San Antonio, TX. Her parents, a daughter, Lori Bogguess, a sister, Janet Seabloom, and three brothers, Keith, Gene, and Joe Martin, preceded her in death
