Ruth Humphrey

Ruth H. Humphrey, 99, formerly of Cambridge, died Monday, November 14, 2016, at Hillcrest Home, rural Geneseo.  Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 16th, at the Cambridge Lutheran Church.  Rev. Randall Swanson will officiate.  Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cambridge Lutheran Church or Hillcrest Home.  Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, Cambridge, is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Ruth Harriet Franzen was born February 6, 1917 in Orion, the daughter of Charles and Hedvig Ericson Franzen.  She was educated in Orion schools and graduated from Orion High School in 1935.  Her marriage to Clarence Humphrey took place on July 3, 1935 in Moline.  He died July 15, 2006.  Ruth worked as a cook at the Cambridge Grade School from 1959 until retiring in 1982.

Her memberships included the Cambridge Lutheran Church and the WELCA Naomi Circle.  She enjoyed crocheting and had made Afghans for all her children and grandchildren.  She and her husband had served as Superintendents of Horticulture at the Henry County Fair for many years.

Those surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth Ann and Ray Newman, Orion, Janis and Vern Moore, Cambridge, a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Pamela Humphrey, Cambridge, nine grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 14 great great grandchildren.  Her parents, her husband, a grandson, three great grandchildren, and six sisters preceded her in death.
