Ruth Erdman

January 12, 1926 — May 10, 2015

Ruth H. Erdman, 89, of Geneseo died Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Good Samaritan Village, Geneseo.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13th at St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Geneseo.  Rev. Christopher Bushre will officiate.  Burial will be in North Cemetery, Geneseo.  Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.  Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Geneseo.  Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Geneseo is assisting the family with arrangements.

Ruth Helen Klavon was born Jan. 12, 1926 in Geneseo, IL the daughter of Clark Walter and Edna Caroline (Peterson) Klavon.  She was educated in Geneseo and married Chester Erdman on March 11, 1944 in Geneseo.  He died on May 30, 2001.  Ruth and her husband farmed in Colona and Edford Townships until retiring in October 2000 when they moved into Geneseo.

Ruth was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid of the church, she had been a member of the choir, a Sunday school teacher and Adult Fellowship Club over the years.  Ruth enjoyed oil painting and taught oil painting classes for many years including evening classes at Orion High School.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Howard & Janie Erdman, Kewanee; three grandchildren, Lela Capper, Howard Erdman, Jr, and Donna Kramer; 14 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; daughter and son-in-law, Susie and George Saavedra, West Hills, CA and their two children, Tiffany and Kurt; sisters, Lois (Wayne) Misfeldt, Geneseo and Judy Cross, Washington, IL; and a brother, William (Kay) Klavon, Anthem, Arizona.  Ruth is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five sisters, Shirley Dhamers, Hazel Misfeldt, Evelyn Nicholas, June Kleinau, and Violet Causemaker; as well as three brothers Walter, Arthur, and Robert Klavon.
