Ruth Ann Carey, 76, of Cambridge, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2020, at Hillcrest Home, rural Geneseo. Cremation has been accorded and a private memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 26th, at the Geneseo Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services. Public visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Ruth Ann Carey Memorial Fund.
Ruth Ann Lauritzson was born September 26, 1943 in Moline, the daughter of Walter and Evelyn Veys Lauritzson. She was educated in Silvis area schools and graduated from United Township High School in 1961. Her marriage to Jack Carey took place on July 23, 1963 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He died on March 1, 2019.
She worked at the Jack-n-Jill grocery store in Orion for several years. Ruth Ann suffered from Rheumatoid Arthritis for 45 years. She was always loving and kind to anyone she met. She loved dogs, and loved her children and grandchildren. Ruth Ann was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and enjoyed talking to people about the Bible. Isaiah 41:10 got her through her last days.
Those surviving are her children, Ed (Angi) Carey, Orion, Connie (Dewey) Peterson, Andover, Ronnie (Stacey) Carey, Cambridge, Jackie (Dave) English, Cambridge, 11 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. Other survivors include sisters, Marie (Bob) Taylor, Austin, MN, Janice (Dick) Noe, Silvis, twin Nancy Larsen, Orion, and a brother, Tom (Sue) Shipman, Port Byron. Her parents, her husband, and a brother, John, preceded her in death. The family would like to give a special thank you to all of those at Hillcrest Home that took care of their mother for all of these years.
