Russell H. Charlet, 90, of Cambridge, died Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at Hillcrest Home, rural Geneseo. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 31st, at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, 212 E. Court St., Cambridge. Rev. Chris Ritter will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursday. Memorials may be made to the Hillcrest Home Memorial Fund.
Russell was born April 22, 1919 in Burns Township, Henry County, Illinois, the son of Barney and Bernice Atwell Charlet. He was educated in the Cambridge-Kewanee area schools and graduated from Wethersfield High School in 1937. His marriage to Blanche Johnson took place on October 12, 1940 in Davenport, IA. She died March 24, 1999. The coupled had farmed in Burns Township all of their married life.
Memberships include the State Road Community Church, rural Cambridge. Russell was a fifty year member of Cambridge Lodge No. 49, AF & AM.
Those surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Terry Newman, Kewanee, a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Linda Charlet, Cambridge, three grandson, Brian Charlet, Humboldt, IA, Dave (Angie) Charlet, Cambridge, and Bill (Tara) Charlet, Cambridge, a granddaughter, Susan Spanton, Geneseo, and eight great grandchildren. His parents and his wife preceded him in death.
