Roena Hintz

Roena M. Hintz, 93, of rural Geneseo died on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at the Long Term Care Unit of Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo.  Private Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 4th at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, Geneseo.  Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.  Rev. Dr. Christopher Ritter will officiate.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Geneseo, or GiGi’s Playhouse of the Quad Cities.

Roena May Brokaw was born July 17, 1928 in Geneseo, IL the daughter of Bushie (Mercer) and Ray Sr. Brokaw.  She graduated Geneseo High School in 1946.  On October 2, 1949 she married Howard W. Hintz in Geneseo.  He died on November 16, 2005.

Roena was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church, Geneseo.  She enjoyed baking and cooking and had won several awards for her creations.

Survivors include her son, Lanny (Janet) Hintz, Geneseo; daughter, Jeanne (John) Punkiewicz, Rock Island; grandchildren, Nathan (Colleen) Hintz, Waukegan, Patrick (Polly) Hintz, Bettendorf, Katie and Kayla Punkiewicz, Rock Island; great-grandchildren, Emeline and Emerson Hintz; sister, Rebecca (Robert) Reiter, Bettendorf; and brother-in-law, Corliss Holmes, Calgary, Canada.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, and sister-in-law, Ray, Jr. (Nancy) Brokaw, sister and brother-in-law, Jeanett (Charles) Olson, sister, Caroline Holmes, brother, Warren Brokaw, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Norma and Ernest Bennett.
