Rodger D. Hultgren, 87, of Cambridge, died Monday, May 23, 2016, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 28th, at the Cambridge Lutheran Church. Rev. Randall Swanson will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services. Memorials may be made to the Cambridge Lutheran Church or the Illowa Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
Rodger Dean Hultgren was born November 15, 1928 in Moline, the son of Martin and Lillian Nelson Hultgren. He was educated in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1946. He attended Augustana College in Rock Island from 1946 to 1948. His marriage to Marietta Anderson took place on October 17, 1948 in Cambridge. Rodger began his employment at the State Bank of Osco where he served as president until retiring in 1987. He was a lifelong resident of Cambridge.
He was a member of the Cambridge Lutheran Church, where he served as the Sunday School Superintendant and also served on the church board. Rodger was a member of the school board for Cambridge Community Unit School District #227, where he served as president. He was very active in the Boy Scouts of America as Scoutmaster of the Cambridge troop and as a member and officer of the Executive Board of the Illowa Council. He enjoyed golf, his family, yard work, maintaining contact with Swedish relatives, and researching his Swedish heritage.
Those surviving are his wife, Marietta, three sons, Steven (Holly) Hultgren, Boulder CO, David (Christy Schisler) Hultgren, Peoria, IL, Paul (Diane) Hultgren, Cheyenne, WY, grandchildren, Torrin (Barb) Hultgren, Seattle, WA, Brianna (Sergio) Santander, Seatac, WA, Britt (Randy) Ramroop, Loganville, GA, Kajsa Hultgren, Cheyenne, WY, Scott (Stephanie Negrini) Hultgren, Madison, WI, and Eric (Sarah) Hultgren, Peoria, IL. Other survivors include ten great grandchildren and a sister, Virginia Hultgren Martin, Moline. His parents, a sister, Barbara Hultgren Johnson, and a brother, Gerald Hultgren, preceded him in death.
