Robert Weckel

Robert W. Weckel, 94, of Lynn Center, died Sunday, March 4, 2018, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, surrounded by his family.  Cremation has been accorded and a private burial will be held at Western Township Cemetery. Orion, at a later date.  Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, Cambridge, is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Robert Warren Weckel was born December 31, 1923 in Moline, the son of Ralph and Sadie Anderson Weckel.  He was educated in Moline schools and graduated from Moline High School in 1942.  His marriage to Ethel Mary Senne, the love of his life, took place on August 30, 1943 in Moline.  She passed away on March 16, 2010.

He was a proud veteran of the World War II Merchant Marines.  While in the service he touched base in England, France, Sicily, Egypt, and the Philippines.  He loved his country.  During his life, Bob built many homes, farmed, and was a rural mail carrier.  He enjoyed the outdoors.

Those surviving are five daughters, Lua Aline, Nashville, IN, Laine Lundberg, Fresno, CA, Lynn (David) Doy, Lynn Center, Lonna Bostic, Sherrard, and Laura (Michael) White, Andover, 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.  His wife, a brother, Lawrence, a granddaughter, Louann Wafford, and a son-in-law, Robert Bostic, preceded him in death.
