Robert G. Specht, 80, of Geneseo died on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Clarissa Cook Hospice, Bettendorf.  Per his wishes cremation rites will be accorded.  Private graveside interment service will be held on Friday, May 5th in Pleasant View Cemetery, Kewanee. Deacon Art Ries will officiate.  Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, Geneseo is assisting the family.  Memorial may be made to Henry County Humane Society, Geneseo.

 

Robert Gene Specht was born August 25, 1942 in Geneseo the son of Harley and Margaret (Brown) Specht.  He graduated from Kewanee High School in 1960 where he had served as President of the FFA and was awarded the State Farmer Award.  On December 17, 1960 he married Judith Ann Anderson in Kewanee, IL.  She survives.

 

Bob had worked for Roth Pump Factory, Milan for 8 years, Montgomery Elevator, Moline for 4 years, owned and operated Spechts Auto in Geneseo for 22 years and worked for L.A. Colo in Geneseo for 14 years.  He had also owned and operated Spechts Conoco and Spechts Stables in Geneseo.

 

Bob was a member of United States Trotting Association, National Rifle Association, Indian Hills Lake Association, Moose Lodge, Flemish American Club, and the United Auto Workers.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, stock car racing, which he had driven in his younger years, and horse racing where he had breed, trained and raced horses.

 

Survivors include his wife, Judy, daughter, Dawn (Paul) Cheek, Coal Valley, and son, Mark Specht, Eldridge; five grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, two brother, David Specht, Plainfield, and Dennis Specht, Princeton, IL, and sister, Debbie Rodseth, Monticello, MN and his faithful dog, Buddy.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Alan Specht and a sister, Andrea Rosenow.
