Robert Bennett

Robert L. “Bob” Bennett, 92, of Annawan, died on Friday, February 10, 2023, at his home.  As per his wishes, his body was donated to the Anatomical Gifts Association of Illinois.  Private family memorial services will be held in Missouri.  Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, Annawan is assisting the family with arrangements.  Memorials may be made to Rebuilding Together of Henry County.

Bob was born on September 12, 1930, in Onida, SD, the son of Lane and Iva (Olson) Bennett.  He graduated from Brandon High School, Brandon, MN.  Bob was drafted into the U.S. Marine Corps and served from 1952 – 1954.  On April 5, 1963, he married Elizabeth “Betty” Girten in Geneseo, IL.  Bob had worked for Growmark retiring as a sales manager in 1994.  During his time with Growmark he had worked at Christian County F.S., Montgomery County F.S., and Henry County F.S.

He was a member of Wares Grove Church, Butler, IL, and VFW Post 7176, Annawan.  Bob loved softball, playing on a men’s team until the age of 62.  He had also coached several girls’ softball teams.  Bob had also held many offices in all of his activities.

Survivors include his wife, Betty; children, Kandy Hege, Kristy Ross, Gary Bennett, and Judy Nelson; grandchildren, Kameron, Kellyanne, Austin, Jennifer, Amanda, Brittney, Craig, Chris, Curt, and Catherine; 7 great-grandchildren; twin sister, Betty Lou Vandegraff; sister, Mary Lee Marsh; sister-in-law, Linda Bennett, and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lorrell and Norris Bennett; and sister, LaVon Rapp.
