Richard C. Wells, Sr. of East Moline, IL passed on Feb. 11, 2016 at the age of 94. Visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 15th from 4 – 7 p.m. at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral and Cremation Services, Geneseo.  Funeral services will be on Tuesday, Feb. 16th at 11 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bettendorf, IA, officiated by Pastor Richard Pokora, with a 1 hour visitation beginning at 10 a.m.  There will be a luncheon immediately following the funeral service at Redeemer church hall.  Burial will be at Annawan Cemetery, Annawan, IL scheduled for 3 p.m. with military rites by Kewanee Veterans Council.  Memorials may be made to Redeemer Church, Bettendorf or Annawan Township Cemetery.

Richard was born on Jan. 26, 1922 in Annawan, IL, son of Matthew and Lillian Pont Wells.  He married Evelyn Marie Birrer on July 9, 1943 in Eastman, VA.  She preceded him in death on May 29, 1992.  Richard married Barbara Beebe on June 18, 1994 in Davenport, IA.

Richard farmed in rural Annawan for many years and retired from the Kewanee Boiler Shop.  His herd of purebred Jersey cattle was recognized as one of the best in the state, winning numerous production and state fair awards.  His farm attained Century Farm status in 1999.  Later, he enjoyed dancing, traveling, volunteer work, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  He was active in his church family, volunteering for BeFrienders and Moline Blood Center.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; four sons and a daughter, Dick Wells, Sheffield, Jim (Deb) Wells, LaPorte, IN, Kathleen (Al) Ahrens, Colona, Tom (Sue Ann) Wells, Annawan, and Tim (Cynthia) Wells, Geneseo; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; four step-sons, Larry, Gene, Allen and Gail Beebe; nine step-grandchildren; and eleven step-great grandchildren.  His parents, two brothers, and a granddaughter preceded him in death.
