Richard Mcnaught

Richard K. McNaught, 71, of Geneseo died Sunday, March 4, 2012 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 8th at Grace United Methodist Church, Geneseo. Rev. Lou Zuck and Rev. Realff Ottesen will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo with military rites. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, 225 E. Park St., Geneseo. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Richard McNaught Memorial Fund.

He was born Sept. 28, 1940 in Moline, IL the son of Lester L. and Ruby (Hepner) McNaught. Rich was educated in Cambridge Schools and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1958. He then served in the U.S. Army during the late 1950’s. Rich attended American Institute of Commerce, Davenport for two years and received an Associate Degree in Accounting.


Rich had worked at the Hyster Plant, Kewanee. He then returned to school and received training in computers. Following that Rich went to work as a computer operator at Mississippi Bend Area Educational Agency 9, Bettendorf. He retired in 2002 after more than 30 years of service.


Memberships include Grace United Methodist Church, Geneseo and Hillcrest Bowling League where he served as secretary for 30 years. Rich was inducted into the Geneseo Bowling Hall of Fame in 1999. Rich was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan and attended many Cubs Conventions in Chicago. He enjoyed attending the monthly AEA retiree’s breakfast, but most of all Rich enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his granddaughters.


Rich was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Patti, two daughters, Meredith McNaught, East Dubuque, IL and Robin (Mike) Henson, Frederick, Colorado, two granddaughters, Addison and Reese Henson and a sister-in-law, Cathy Wells, Broadhead, Wisconsin. Rich was preceded in death by his parents. We love you Dad.
