Reuben V. Lempke, 98, of Cambridge, died Saturday, September 13, 2014, at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo. Private funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 16 th , at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services. Rev. Todd Smith will officiate. Burial will be at the Bishop Hill Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Reuben Lempke Memorial Fund.
Reuben was born February 9, 1916 in Cambridge Township, Henry County, Illinois, the son of Albert E. and Ida E. Carlson Lempke. He was educated in the rural area school system. Reuben worked for Minneapolis-Moline in his early years and then was a farm hand for area farmers and nurseries.
Those surviving are friends, Jim Crouch and Tammy McBee, both of Andover, and cousins. His parents, two brothers, Harry and Irvey Lempke, a sister, Bertha Freet, and an infant sister, Esther, preceded him in death.
