Rebecca Ann Maddy, 80, of Chicago died on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Northwestern Memorial Medical Center, Chicago. Cremation rites will be accorded. The burial of cremains will be at a later date in Sheffield Cemetery, Sheffield, IL. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, Sheffield is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America.
Rebecca was born on November 12, 1941, in Chariton, IA the first born of twelve children of Walter Gordon and Leda (Askren) Maddy. She graduated from Sheffield High School in 1959 where she was salutatorian and attended the University of Illinois and Northwestern University. Rebecca worked as the executive director for the National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers for 30 years. She had been Sheffield Homecoming queen in 1959. Rebecca loved Chicago City Life especially Broadway in Chicago Theater shows, She was especially fond and proud of her sixteen nieces and nephews and many great nieces and great nephews.
Surviving are brothers and sisters, Vivian Roffey, Wayne Maddy, Barb (Lee) Carper, Mary (Merwyn) Newman, Alice Maddy, Clair (Kent) Cook, and Joel Maddy; sixteen nieces and nephews, Amber Reatherford, Mike Kaufman, Tammy Poppen, Tim Kaufman, Jessica Parsons, Tina Bryant, Angie May, Tracy Grimmer, Brian Maddy, Renae Shay, Ben Newman, Sara Johnson, Emmalea Pistole, John Paul Maddy, Chastity Shreve, and Cherity Cook; and many great nieces and nephews. Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Larry Maddy, Dale Maddy, John Maddy, and Paul Maddy.
