Phyllis J. Morey, 79, of Mineral died Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, October 1st at Mineral United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Mineral Cemetery. Rev. Terry Lancaster will officiate. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at the church. Memorials may be made to Mineral United Methodist Church. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Annawan is assisting the family with arrangements.

Phyllis was born in Mineral, IL on January 6, 1933, to Roy and Cecelia (Doubler) Rakestraw. She graduated from Mineral High School in 1951, and was united in marriage to Benny Morey on June 7, 1951, in Princeton, IL. He survives. Phyllis served as Mineral Postmaster for 36 years until retiring in 1998. She also had worked as a cook for Mineral School District for many years.

Phyllis was a lifelong member of Mineral United Methodist Church where she served as organist for over 40 years. She also served as President of the Mineral-Gold Library for 26 years.

Survivors include her husband, Benny; son, Dwight (Linda) Morey, Mineral; daughter, Pam (Mike) Linnemann, Mineral; six grandchildren, Jeremy (Heather) Morey, Monica Morey, Rob Morey, Jody (Jennifer) Junis, Angela (Kevin) Drinkall, and Jamie (Ashley) Junis; eleven great grandchildren, Jonas, Felicia, Gage, Jordan, Ravin, Aubrey, Jakob, Noah, Gracie, Chelsea, and Caleb; a sister, Arvilla (Ron) McGuire, San Antonio, TX; and a brother, Gary (Charlotte) Rakestraw, Mineral. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her great granddaughter, Addison.
