Oscar was born December 19, 1935 in Wessington, South Dakota, the son of Edmond and Margaret DuPre’ DePauw. He was educated in the Cambridge area and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1954. His marriage to Patricia Calsyn took place on November 27, 1957 in Geneseo. Oscar served in the Galva National Guard from 1957 to 1962.
In his early years, he worked for Howard Collinson, and from 1972 until retiring in 2000, he worked at the Altona Co-op. His memberships included the Hagberg-Hamlin American Legion Post No. 45, Galva, and the Hook & Bullet Conservation Club, Victoria. Oscar was past president of the Victoria Lions Club. He enjoyed fishing, 4-wheeling, NASCAR, and antique automobiles and tractors.
Those surviving are his wife, Patricia, three children and (spouses), Cheryl (Rodney) Mackie, Laura, IL, Catherine (Benjamin) Hootman, Sr., Wataga, IL, Oscar (Kari) DePauw, Jr., Altona, IL, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. His parents and three brothers preceded him in death.
