Orville C. Grant, 90, formerly of Cambridge and Kewanee, died Saturday, June 11, 2016, at his apartment in Courtyard Estates, Galva. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 17th, at the Cambridge United Methodist Church. Pastor Rick McDaniel will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, rural Kewanee. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services. Memorials may be made to the Orville Grant Memorial Fund.
Orville Clifford Grant was born July 7, 1925 in Lynn Township, Henry County, Illinois, the son of Clifford B. and Rachel M. Wildermuth Grant. He was educated in Cambridge area schools. His marriage to Irene R. Ensley took place on June 24, 1945 in Kewanee. She passed away December 21, 1991. He later married Phyllis Martin Bergling on November 25, 1995 in Cambridge. She died October 5, 2005.
He was a lifelong farmer. Orville also worked part time in the winter months for the Experimental Division of John Deere Harvester in East Moline. He was a former member of the Henry County Farm Bureau, the Flemish American Club in Kewanee, and Valley View Country Club in Cambridge. Orville enjoyed traveling, camping, and square dancing.
Those surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Richard Vlahovich, Kewanee, Bonnie and Brian O'Leary, Tacoma, WA, Hollie Ingram, Port Byron, and a son, Daryl Grant, Kewanee, ten grandchildren, Heidi, Christopher, Jamie, Lisa, Rachael, Angie, Aaron, Amber, Stephanie, and Trevor, 14 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Other survivors include two brothers, Dwayne Grant, Cambridge, and Cary (Tani) Grant, Cambridge, six sisters, Zeretta (Marvin) Swanson, Estora, FL, Norine (Donald) Hasbrook, Marshfield, WI, Joyce (Jan) Gibson, Calhoun, GA, Veronica (Paul) Moon, Wyanet, Patricia (Wayne) Weyland, Andover, and Linda (Jim) Justice, Milan. His parents, his two wives, a sister, Carole Hasbrook-Lundgren, a brother, Phillip Grant, and a special friend, Shirley Bloomhuff, preceded him in death.
