Nathan A. Stevens, 38, of Galva, died Friday, March 13, 2020, at his home. Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 19th, at the Galva Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services. A memorial visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Private burial of the cremated remains will take place in Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge, at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Nathan Stevens Memorial Fund.
Nathan August Stevens was born March 2, 1982 in Geneseo, the son of Tammy Stevens. He was educated in Galva schools and graduated from Galva High School in 2000. His marriage to Elissa Lewis took place on June 23, 2001 in Bishop Hill. They later divorced.
He worked as a CNA at Hillcrest Home, rural Geneseo, from 2000 to 2009. Nathan then worked for Addus Health Care, Moline, from 2017 to 2018. He was a member of the Little John Conservation Club, Victoria. Nathan served on the Galva Fire Department from 2008 to 2011, and he loved fishing, baseball, and golfing, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Those surviving are his mother, Tammy (Paul) Brody, Galva, his grandfather, Donald “Ducky” Stevens, rural
Altona, sisters, Sarah (Brandon) Hopkey, Atkinson, and Karla Sterling, New Bern, NC. Other survivors include nieces, Cheyenne Hopkey and Neveah Sterling, nephews, Devan Sterling and Drew Hopkey, aunts Crystal Hook and Dawn (Steve) Boll, and several cousins. His maternal grandmother, Sharon Stevens, and his great grandparents preceded him in death.
