Mildred Rogers

October 31, 1917 — January 30, 2018

Mildred F. Rogers, 100, of Cambridge, died Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at Hillcrest Home, rural Geneseo.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 2nd, at the Cambridge United Methodist Church.  Rev. Les Zook will officiate.  Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church.  Memorials may be made to the Cambridge United Methodist Church or Hillcrest Home.  Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, Cambridge, is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Mildred Frances Anderson was born October 31, 1917 in Cylinder, Iowa, the daughter of Cecil F. and Esther M. Roberts Anderson.  She graduated from Kewanee High School in 1935.  Her marriage to James W. Rogers took place on February 15, 1939 in Cambridge.  He passed away on August 14, 1994.  Mildred had been employed part time at Grace's Gift Shop in Cambridge and also worked with her husband on the farm.  When they retired and moved to town in 1976, she worked for Wayne's Super Value until 1985.

When her family was growing up, she was a Cub Scout leader, helped with Girl Scouts, 4-H, Methodist Youth Fellowship, and was active in PTA.  Mildred was a member of the Cambridge United Methodist Church for over 75 years.  She taught nursery/preschool Sunday school for 25 years and was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Women.  Mildred had been a member of Rebekah Lodge for more than 65 years.  She enjoyed playing in card clubs, following her favorite team, the Cubs, spending time with family, bird watching, being an armchair gardener, and sending cards.

Those surviving are her children, Mary McKay, Wahoo, NE, Alice (Dennis) Barman, Cambridge, and Glenn Rogers, Bolingbrook, IL, four grandchildren, Jason (Tya) Barman, Janel (David) Comerford, Kimberly (Jeff) Armstrong, Kristin (Stacey) Strong, eight great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.  Her parents, her husband, a sister, a twin brother, and five brothers preceded her in death.
