Mildred “Milly” G. Hill, 92, of Princeton, formerly of Sheffield and Neponset, died Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Liberty Village, Princeton, IL. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 26th, at 1 p.m. at Sheffield United Church of Christ, Sheffield, IL. Rev. Jane Courtright will officiate. Burial will be in Floral Hill Cemetery, Neponset, IL. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. Memorials may be made to Princeton Library or St. Jude’s. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Sheffield is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mildred G. Gibbs was born June 7, 1918 in Victoria, IL the daughter of Martin and Mary (Milroy) Gibbs. She graduated from Victoria High School and attended beauty school in Kewanee. Milly was united in marriage to Merwyn “Hilly” Hill on October 7, 1939 in Davenport, IA. He died on August 9, 1991. She was a member of the Sheffield United Church of Christ and the Sheffield American Legion Auxiliary. She love to read, was an avid bridge player, and loved her grandchildren.. Milly was known to many as a connoisseur of pie.


Survivors include two daughters, Mary (Meredith “Pee Wee”) Duncan, Toulon, and Jill (Terry) Hill, Oswego; a son, James (Lynn) Hill, Pekin; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Rachel Gibbs, Victoria; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, and a sister.
