Mildred M. “Millie” Carter, 81 of Annawan died Friday, October 22, 2010 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 28th at Annawan Community United Methodist Church. Rev. Terry Lancaster will officiate. Burial will be in Annawan Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Annawan. Memorials may be made to Annawan Community United Methodist Church or to Annawan-Alba Rescue Squad.
Mildred Jacobs was born April 16, 1929 in rural Annawan the daughter of Albert and Bertha (Hogwood) Jacobs. She graduated from Annawan High School in 1947. Millie married Rex B. Carter on Oct. 23, 1948 in Kewanee. He died on Jan. 22, 2003. Millie was a member of La Femmes of the 40 & 8, Annawan and Annawan Community United Methodist Church. She loved her family and especially her grandchildren. Millie was an avid bird watcher, loved gardening, the Chicago Cubs and the Illini.
Survivors include daughter, Roseanna (Joseph) Talbot, Geneseo, son, Douglas (Juliette) Carter, Atkinson, daughter, Jill Carter, Jakarta, Indonesia, and son, William (Jennifer) Carter, Annawan and eight grandchildren, Anthony, John, Anna, Kory, Kami, Sarah, Kole, and Allie. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters and a brother.
