Maurice V. Franck, 83, of Cambridge, died Monday, July 13, 2009, at his home. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 16th, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Cambridge. Father James Pallardy will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, with a rosary at 4:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. John Vianney Church.
Maurice was born February 20, 1926 in Loraine Township, Henry County, Illinois, the son of Leon and Irma VanLancker Franck. He was educated in Geneseo area schools. His marriage to Rose Mary “Dolly” VanDeWalle took place on February 4, 1948 in Moline. Maurice farmed in Munson and Cambridge Townships until retiring. He also started the Maurice Franck Trucking business in 1976.
His memberships include St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Cambridge, and the Flemish-American Rolle Bolle Club, Kewanee. He enjoyed farming, helping his boys, shuffleboard, Rolle Bolle, and wintering in Florida.
Those surviving are his wife, Rose Mary, six sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Pam Franck, Cambridge, Randall and Shelly Franck, Geneseo, and Rick and Sue Franck, Royce and Lori Franck, Robert and Julie Franck, Rory and Mary Franck, all of Cambridge, and a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Scott Palmer, Cambridge. Other survivors include 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Anez and Rene Emmerson, Geneseo, Bernice Hasbrook, Sheffield, and a brother and sister-in-law, Leon and Maria Franck, Shorewood, IL. His parents, a sister, Alice Wiese, a brother, Francis Franck, and a great grandson preceded him in death.
