Mary Van Poucke was born March 19, 1922 in Erie, IL the daughter of Oscar and Clara (Van Lancker) Van Poucke. She graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing, Kewanee in 1943 and worked there as a nurse for a few years after graduating. On Sept. 25, 1946 she married Marvin Taets in Kewanee, IL. He survives. She is a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sheffield and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church. She is also a member of St. Francis Nurse Alumni Association. Mary had been an active 4-H Leader for several years. She loved sewing and cooking for family and friends. In her later years she enjoyed playing games and cards and doing word searches.
Survivors include her husband, Marvin, Princeton, IL; two daughters, Jean Ann (James) Carter, Morris, IL and Nancy (Larry) Dynes, Atkinson, IL; two sons, Dennis R. (Sharyn) Taets, Horseheads, NY and Gary (Peggy) Taets, Sheffield; 10 grandchildren, Adam (Danielle) Carter, Sarah (Joe) Kampe, Scott (Jill) Dynes, Matt (Amanda) Dynes, Tracey (Casey) Carton, Jenifer (Bill) Congdon, Jonathan (Crystal) Taets, Michele Taets, Carrie (Bill) Northcott, and Kimberly (David) Hexter; and twelve great grandchildren, Elizabeth, John Patrick, Ethan, Justin, Jackson, Bennett, Callen, Devin, Alexandria, Logan, Cole, and Dominic.. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Elvera Taets and Lynn Van Poucke. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Raymond.
