Marvin F. Swiger, 89, of Geneseo died Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo.  Private graveside services for immediate family will be held on Thursday, July 23rd at Oakwood Cemetery.  Rev. Christopher Ritter will officiate and military rites will be accorded.  There will be no visitation.  Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Geneseo, is assisting the family with arrangements.  Memorials may be made to Geneseo VFW or Aisle of Flags.

Marvin was born December 6, 1925 in Geneseo the son of Eldon and Olive (Heller) Swiger.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy upon the LST 713 during World War II.  He was wounded in Iwo Jima which ended his Navy career.  He married Anita Dilenbeck and they had 70 years together.  She died on April 3, 2014.

He owned and operated his diary farm for over 40 years.  After retirement he worked for Geneseo Co-Op and Atkinson Landfill.  His passion was driving grain to the elevator every fall in his truck for his son-in-law.  Marvin belonged to the Geneseo Moose Lodge, was a lifetime member of the American Legion, a charter member of the Geneseo VFW, and a member of the LST Association.

Survivors include sons, John (Pam), Carbondale, IL, Steve (Linda), Geneseo, and Tom, Iowa; daughters, Nancy (Roger) Abell, Geneseo, and Sharon (Don) Clark, Geneseo; many, many grandchildren, great grandchildren; and great, great grandchildren; and sisters, Bernita Hunter and Jean Pinnick.  Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; an infant daughter, Linda; a grandson, Adam Abell; daughter-in-law, Sharon; and a brother, Arlyn.
