Marshall Purl

Marshall L. Purl, 71, of Geneseo died Saturday, June 16, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 20th at First United Methodist Church, Geneseo. Pastor Ben Moncivaiz will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, 225 E. Park St. Geneseo. Memorials may be made to Marshall Purl memorial fund.
Marshall was born October 28, 1940 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas the son of Carter and Mabel (Cline) Purl. He graduated Galesburg High School and had attended Blackhawk College, Moline. Marshall married Illa Nelson on Dec. 4, 1960 in Knoxville, IL. She survives. He had worked for Case IH in Quad Cities until retiring in 2001.
He was a member of Archeology Society. Marshall enjoyed geneology, golfing, archeology, especially Indian artifacts and anything to do with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Illa, daughter Cari (Bob) Arnold, Moline, son, Kevin (Cindy) Purl, Andover, IL; four grandchildren, Sarah (Dan) Williams, Milan, Matt Purl, Davenport, Lauren Arnold, Moline, and Asaaryia Purl, Moline. He is also survived by two sisters, Lillian Pumfrey, Herculaneum, MO and Jean Damitz, Little York, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leslie.
