Marjorie M. “Marj” Hughes, 96 of Mineral, passed away on Monday, July 01, 2019 at Aperion Care, Princeton, IL surrounded by her family.  Cremation rites have been accorded and interment will be in Annawan Cemetery on Saturday, July 6th with a service at 1:00 p.m. and visitation from 12:30 p.m. until 1 pm. all at Annawan Cemetery, just off of Route 78 south of Annawan.    Memorials may be made to Annawan Cemetery or to her family for other memorials.  Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.

Marjorie Marie DeDecker was born on August 20, 1922 in rural Annawan the daughter of George and Jessie (DeMaranville) DeDeceker.  She graduated Annawan High School in 1940 and attended business college in Kewanee.  On January 5, 1943 she married Albert L. “Bill” Hughes in Kahoka, MO.  He died on September 17, 1979.

Marj was a lifelong member of Annawan Community United Methodist Church.  She had been a longtime bus driver for Annawan Schools.  Marj also served on the Annawan Cemetery Board.  She enjoyed playing cards and leaves behind some special card playing friends.  Marj was active in everything school and village related to Annawan.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Connie (Rev. Wayne) Anderson, Princeton, IL, Billerae Twing, Hebron, IN, and Margery (Jim) Wegrzyn, McNabb, IL; 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Edward DeDecker, 5 grandsons, and a great grandson.
