Marilyn J. Rishel, 84, of Cambridge, died Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at Good Samaritan Village, Geneseo. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 26th, at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services. Rev. John Eisfelder will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Cambridge United Methodist Church.
The former Marilyn Jean Doll was born April 14, 1925 in Annawan, the daughter of Gustav Adolph William and Signa Elizabeth Gustafson Doll. She graduated from Annawan High School in 1942 and attended Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Moline. Her marriage to Robert L. Rishel took place on September 10, 1945 in Bradford, IL. He died June 1, 1999. Marilyn worked for 26 years at Hammond-Henry Hospital in Geneseo as a Nurse’s Aid. She earned her CNA certification in 1990 and retired in 1991.
Her memberships include the Cambridge United Methodist Church, the Priscilla Circle of the United Methodist Women, the Prairie Queen Quilt Club, Valley View Ladies Golf Association, the Cambridge Bowling Association, the Natural Area Guardians, the Mothers of World War II, Inc., and she was a charter member of Valley View Country Club, Cambridge. Marilyn enjoyed her church work, quilting, golf, bowling, fishing, and spending time with her family.
Those surviving are sons, Steven Rishel, DeSoto, IL, Larry Rishel, St. Joseph, IL, grandchildren and (spouses), Denise (Daniel) Lutchka, Carterville, Michael (Nikki) Rishel, DeSoto, IL, and five great grandchildren. Her parents, her husband, a sister, and a brother preceded her in death.
