Marilyn C. “Mary” Anderson, 84, of Sheffield died on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Perry Memorial Hospital, Princeton. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 28 th at Sheffield United Methodist Church. Rev. Todd Krost will officiate. Cremation rites have been accorded and interment will be in Sheffield Cemetery. Memorial visitation will be on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Sheffield. Memorials may be made to Sheffield Rescue Unit or to LaSalle Veterans Home.
Marilyn Spratt was born March 16, 1930 in Sheffield, IL the daughter of William and Ollie (Steel) Spratt. She graduated from Sheffield High School. She married Thomas Anderson on October 12, 1958 in Sheffield. He survives.
Mary had worked at Village Café, Sheffield and later at Farmers State Bank of Sheffield.
Mary was a member of H.F. Hortz American Legion Auxiliary, Sheffield and enjoyed volunteering at the LaSalle Veterans Home. She was an avid Santa Claus collector and enjoyed going to the casinos. She also enjoyed her morning coffee ladies and loved her nieces and nephew as if they were her own children.
Survivors include her husband, Tom; three nieces, Mary Jo (Bill) Rosenow, Pat Stier, and Linda (Mike) Oredens; seven nephews, Jim (Willy) Hewitt, Tim (Robin) Hewitt, John (Joni) Stier, Mike (Deb) Stier, Steve (Marcie) Stier, Tommy (Susie) Anderson, and Greg (Lin) Anderson; and many great nieces and great nephews. Her parents; two sisters, Ollie Stier and Katharine Hewitt; a niece, Edwina Stier; nephew, Gene Billings; and her foreign exchange daughter, Charlotte “Charlie” Borgenton preceded her in death.
