Marian Irene Miller was born February 27, 1916 in Galva, the daughter of Harry A. and Jessie Stickland Miller. She was educated in Galva area schools, graduated from Galva High School in 1933, and attended MacMurray College in Jacksonville, IL. Her marriage to Ronald H. Scott took place on February 22, 1940 in Cambridge. He passed away on January 11, 2011.
Prior to her marriage, Marian worked as a secretary at the A.S.C.S. Office in Cambridge. She then farmed with her husband on the family farm in Clover Township until they retired. She was a 66 year member of the Bishop Hill United Methodist Church and a member of the women’s circle of the church. In her earlier years, she was a member and district officer of the Henry County Home Extension. Marian was proud to be a farmer’s wife, and she enjoyed her family.
Those surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Karen and Larry Rees, Washington, IL, Deanna Morsing, Clinton, IA, a son, Roger Scott, Algonquin, IL, nine grandchildren, Mark (Diane) Rees, Steven (Colette) Rees, Jeffrey (Marianne) Rees, Darren (Terri) Rees, Dawn (Tim) Tibbals, Russ (Tina) Shearer, Christopher (Kate) Scott, Jonathan (Kristen) Scott, and Anne Scott. Other survivors include eight great grandchildren. Her parents, her husband, a granddaughter, Melissa Scott, and a brother, Dean Miller, preceded her in death.
