Marian Debackere

November 10, 1926 — May 3, 2014

Marian L. DeBackere, 87, of Cambridge, died Saturday, May 3, 2014, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.  Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 7 th , at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services.  Rev. David Joyce will officiate.  Burial will follow the service at Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge.  Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday prior to the service.  Memorials may be made to the Marian DeBackere Memorial Fund.

Marian Louise McConnell was born November 10, 1926 in Osco Township, Henry County, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Norma Poppy McConnell.  She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1945.  Her marriage to Donald Schieferdecker took place on August 21, 1948 in Augusta, IL.   He died May 1, 1982.  She later married Bert DeBackere on August 24, 1984 in Orion.  He died January 14, 1991.  Marian worked as a clerk for the Gamble Store in Cambridge for several years.

Her memberships include the Cambridge United Methodist Church, the Flemish-American Club in Kewanee, and Geneseo Moose Lodge No. 990.  She was a former member of the East End Club in East Moline.

Those surviving are a daughter and a son-in-law, Wanda and Larry Stahl, Cambridge,  a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Tina Schieferdecker, Cambridge, four granddaughters, Angie (Mark) Shumaker, Liberty, IL, Lana (Darren) McDonough, Cambridge, Lexi (Lance) Edmund, Cambridge, Carli Schieferdecker, Cambridge, and two grandsons, Lonny (Naomi) Stahl, Cambridge, and Tad Lindquist, Galesburg.  Other survivors are four great granddaughters, Kayla Shumaker, Olivia McDonough, Carmen Stahl, and Livvy Edmund, four great grandsons, Drake McDonough, Gavin McDonough, Colton Stahl, and Lawson Edmund, a sister, Roberta Drescher, Aledo, and a brother, Marvin McConnell, Port Saint Lucie, FL.  Her parents, her two husbands, a daughter, Jolene Lindquist, and a sister, Jerry Hewitt, preceded her in death
