Margaret Anne Hanlon was born December 10, 1917 in Galesburg, the daughter of Frank and Evangeline Swanson Hanlon. She was educated in Woodhull schools and graduated from Woodhull High School in 1935. Her marriage to Harry W. Kempin took place on July 5, 1941 in Kahoka, MO while Mr. Kempin was serving in the U.S. Army. The couple later settled in Galva where Harry started his own plumbing and heating business. He died November 30, 2007.
Mrs. Kempin was a busy homemaker taking care of her family of five sons. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, needlework, big band music, and dancing. Margaret was a member of the D.A.R. and the Galva American Legion Auxiliary.
Those surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, James and Karen Kempin, White Bear Lake, MN, Kurt Kempin, Kewanee, Joseph Kempin, DeKalb, IL, and Sally Luker, Alpha. Other survivors include seven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Her parents, her husband, Harry, two sons, John and Keith, and five siblings preceded her in death.
