Loretta M. Glubczynski, dearly loved Mother, Grandmother and dear friend, 81, of Sheffield died on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at her home. Memorial mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 18th at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Sheffield. Father Mark Miller will officiate. Interment will take place in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Sheffield. A memorial visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 17th at St. Patrick's Parish Hall, Sheffield. The family is being assisted with arrangements by Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, Sheffield.
Loretta Sabowski was born April 9, 1935 in LaSalle, IL the daughter of Joseph and Agnes Sabowski. She married Edward P. “ Glub” Glubczynski on August 20, 1955 in La Salle. He died on February 15, 2011.
Loretta was a lifetime learner, attending St. Joseph’s Commercial School and then working to support Ed while he finished his advanced degree. Loretta was a long-time member of St. Patrick's Church, the Altar & Rosary Society, and the American Legion Auxiliary in Sheffield. She served on the Sheffield Public Library Board and was their treasurer for many years. She also enjoyed volunteering at the community thrift store, Too Good to Be Threw.
She belonged to the Bureau County Metro Center and stayed active with her water aerobic buddies and enjoyed their coffee/donut gatherings post workouts. Her favorite joys in life were being a mother and grandmother, camping, traveling, reading, and enjoying music, especially the private guitar concerts of her grandson Nick. She loved to be outside, gardening, planting and growing amazing vegetables and flowers every year.
Survivors include three children, Ann Glubczynski and her partner Todd Hunt, of Dunsmuir, California; Joan Glubczynski and her partner Ricardo Morante, of Bella Vista, Arkansas and Paul & Beth Glubczynski of Pekin, Illinois; grandchildren, Nicholas, Derek and Dylan; and her grandpaws, Scruffy Dog and Pedro.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Reggie (Regina Sabowski), her husband, Ed, and her grandclaw, Lorenzo the Cat.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sheffield Public Library or Sheffield Rescue Unit. You may also honor her with memorial mass offerings at St. Patrick’s church.
