Lois A. Wexell, 84, of Geneseo, died Monday, December 17, 2018, at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 22nd, at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services. Rev. Brian Giese will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Kewanee or the Hammond-Henry Foundation.
Lois A. Ashdown was born May 18, 1934 in Erie, the daughter of Judson and Stella Hubbart Ashdown. She was educated in Erie schools and graduated from Erie High School in 1952. Lois attended the Moline Public Hospital School of Nursing from 1952 to 1955 and received her Registered Nurse designation. She then worked as a surgical nurse at Moline Public until her marriage. She married Carl Wexell on October 13, 1957 at the Erie Christian Church. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Kewanee. Lois never met a stranger.
Those surviving are her husband, Carl, a daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Bob Fuller, Champaign, IL, a son, Jeff Wexell, Cambridge, eight grandchildren, Cody, Kyle, and Brett Wexell, Josh Fuller, Crystal Lake, Bobby Fuller, Cassandra Ipox, Joseph Fuller, nine great grandchildren, and a great great granddaughter. Other survivors include a sister, Carol (Keith) Bailey, East Moline, and a brother, Lee (Kathy) Ashdown, Erie. Her parents and an infant brother preceded her in death.
