Lila Becker

Lila Jean Becker, 82, of rural Prophetstown, IL passed away on February 24, 2022, at Allure of Geneseo.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  Funeral services will be held at First Lutheran Church, Geneseo, on Monday, February 28th at 10:30 am with Pastor Laura Kamprath officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo.  Visitation will be held Sunday, from 4 to 6 at the church.  Memorials may be made to the Geneseo Food Pantry or First Lutheran Church, Geneseo, where she was a member.

Lila Jean Lambert was born on June 1, 1939, to James Burdette “Bert” and Geraldine “Jerry” Lambert, in Moline, Illinois. She graduated from Moline High School in 1957 and Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in 1960. On February 3, 1961, she married Melvin Becker at Calvary Lutheran Church, Moline. They made their home in Prophetstown all of their married life.

Lila was a dedicated nurse working many years for Hammond Henry Hospital, Good Samaritan Home and Hammond Henry Home Health.   In addition to caring for others, she loved quilting, gardening and spending time with family and friends.  Lila’s children and grandchildren were the love of her life. She was happy to take them hiking, camping, swimming or whatever they wanted to do.  She and Mel enjoyed many winters in Mesa, AZ and she was thrilled when her kids came to visit.

Lila leaves behind her loving husband, Melvin, Prophetstown; daughters, Karen (Denny) VanDeWostine, Bettendorf; Jeanne (Ben) Frank Prophetstown; Marcia (Darren) Erickson, Bettendorf; son, Dan (Pam) Becker, Poplar Grove, Illinois; grandchildren, Heather (Shawn) Sperfslage, Jerrod (Michelle) Frank, Logan (Gabriel) VanDeWostine, Eli and Griffin Erickson; and great-grandchildren, Archer Frank and Charlotte Sperfslage.

Lila was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Charles Lambert; and great-grandson Oliver Sperfslage.
