Leora VanWinkle, 87, of Geneseo died Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22nd at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, 225 E. Park St. Geneseo. Rev. Dr. Chris Ritter will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Woodridge Supportive Living Center.

Leora Butler was born Sept. 20, 1924 in Tallapoosa, Missouri the daughter of David and Lily (Shaw) Butler. She married George M. VanWinkle on Nov. 8, 1942 in East Prairie, MO. He died March 25 1990. Leora had cleaned for several families and businesses in the Geneseo area. She had volunteered at the Geneseo Food Pantry for several years. She loved to fish, do puzzles, and watch the Chicago Cubs. She especially loved and enjoyed spending time with all her family.

She is survived three sons, Audie "Rip" (Pam) VanWinkle, Geneseo, David (Sharon) VanWinkle, Friendship, WI, and George (Carol) VanWinkle, Colona; ten grandchildren, Carleen (Jim) Mitchell, Tom (Diana Ernst) VanWinkle, Tammy Robinson, Christine Aide, Teresa (Greg) Winchester, Tracey VanWinkle, Susie (Larry) Warren, Julie (Randy) Huizenga, Davina (Jeff Hedler) Brenden, Jeanne VanWinkle; fourteen great grandchildren, Alyssa, Akoya, Brandon, Kimberly, Ryan, Shawn, Samantha, Heather, Tyler, David, Zachary, Diesel, Sunshine, and Emma; and two great great grandchildren, Mya and Stetson. Also surviving are a brother Audie Lee Butler, four sisters-in-laws. Mary Louise, Eileen, Mickey, and Oma and two brothers-in-law, Herman and Col. Lee along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Henry, three sisters and a brother.
