Lemuel A. S. “Sam” Hill, 77, of Buda died on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at OSF St Francis in Peoria. Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, Feb. 12th from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Bureau County Metro Center in Princeton with special military honors at 2:00 p.m. Cremation rites have been accorded. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, Sheffield is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Navy & Marine Corps Relief Society 875 N. Randolph St. Suite 225, Arlington, VA 22203 or to Peaceful Piggy Rehabilitation Sanctuary, 11596 Twp. Hwy 44, Upper Sandusky, Ohio, 43351.
Sam was born on November 10, 1944, in Chattanooga, TN. He was a career military serving in the U.S. Navy from 1965 until 1986. During his career, he served in many places and had served in recovery missions for the space shuttle disasters. On February 19, 1977, he married Linda Rydberg in Chicago.
Sam was a member of the Kewanee American Legion Post. He enjoyed camping, and loved fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandson. He also enjoyed western and classic TV.
Survivors include his wife Linda; two children, Dawn (Greg) Webb, Sheffield, and Daniel Hill, Buda; grandchildren Sabrina and Ethen Webb and great-grandson, Bryson Primo. He is also survived by several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
