Laurie Gibson

Laurie J. Gibson, 60, of Cambridge, passed away on Monday, October 22, 2012, surrounded by her family, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport. Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 26th, at the Cambridge United Methodist Church. Rev. David Joyce will officiate. Inurnment will be at Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Laurie Gibson Memorial Fund. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Cambridge, is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Laurel Jean Palmer was born November 9, 1951 in Geneseo, IL, the daughter of Eldon F. and Sylvia M. Elwood Palmer. She was educated in Cambridge schools and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1969. She married Jay L. Gibson on August 24, 1969 in Cambridge. She was a stay at home mom and also cleaned houses in the Cambridge area. Laurie was the manager of the Valley View Country Club pro shop for five years. She began working for the Henry County Circuit Clerk as a court clerk in 1995. She was a member of the Cambridge United Methodist Church. Laurie loved dancing, crocheting, traveling, playing games, her home, her family, and especially her grandchildren.

Those surviving are her husband, Jay, three daughters and sons-in-law; Amy and Kyle Stromquist, Angie and Terry Swanson, Staci and Todd Myers, and a son and daughter-in-law, Josh and Beth Gibson, all of Cambridge, nine grandchildren; Kaylen, Jenna, and Brendan Stromquist, Dustin, Dylan, and Jace Swanson, Jayden Myers, Jack and John Gibson, and two on the way. Also surviving are sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathie and Larry Vincent, Cambridge, Nancy and Spike Heck, Aledo, and several nieces and nephews. Her parents and an infant brother preceded her in death.
